Is a trade school/college, if you want to become all that you can be, if you want to improve your job skills or learn new ones.
Is neighborhood mini-government, if you want government to be simple, closer, and more responsive to your needs, if you like the idea of living, working, playing in the same neighborhood.
Is a health and beauty spa, if you want to look younger, feel your best, be refreshed, reduced, renewed, relaxed, regenerated. If you want a fountain of youth (or the next best thing).

SELLING DREAMS
Back in 1975, I spent a year writing an eight-page sales letter about the Resort Circle, a utopian village community.
The concept of the live-better lifestyle is the major force of the Resort Circle.
In 1960, when I was learning to silk screen, I worked on a teaser/ bumper sticker that said, “What do you want?”… hopefully to get people to think. As a beginner, I used fluorescent paints that clogged up the screens. Discouraged, I set the project aside.
So, 15 years later, in 1975, I came back to the great question “What do you want?”
If people have free choice, truly free choice, not affected by all the various forces of persuasion, what would people choose?
You ask people: “What do you want?”
Most of the time they have a hard time answering. Sometimes they say, “I don’t know.”
Many times I would say, “I know what you want. You want to live better.”
You want to live better. It is only fair. It is only civil that you want everyone to live better.
That year I spent the entire year creating and refining the sales letter, working with a lawyer, advertising books, and with all my reading, incorporating my readings and experiences – which were extensive and eclectic – into a brief advertising-style presentation of what a utopian live- better lifestyle would be.
It has to be responsive to the limits to growth and other follies of mankind.
In the next few years, I developed more fully the variables that make up the live-better lifestyle.
A BETTER/MORE SIMPLE LIFE
It is easy to look at a car and think of it as a simple idea.
An idea that makes one’s life fuller, yet easier.
In reality, a car is quite a complex product, having been made simple by thousands of scientists, engineers, designers, toolmakers, etc. They have worked millions of creative work-hours making a complex idea simple to operate, thus making your life more easy, carefree, and enjoyable.
The Resort Circle is a complex idea that will make your life simpler…
The Resort Circle is an organic idea – a living idea, ever-changing,
ever-growing, ever-improving, and self-correcting.
That is why the ideas are offered in a continuing series,
rather than a single book.
The old saying, “build a better mousetrap and the world will beat a path to your doorstep,” is still somewhat true, but needs modernizing. Today, there are too many new ideas that compete in the marketplace. If you create something now, you also must promote it. Yes, today you must shout it to the world.

You want a more ideal place to live. You want a healthy habitat, which brings together the wonders of nature with the magic of man…filled with all kinds of fun things to do…to be more convenient, comfortable, safe…to contain the “yes” of yesterday, as well as the “to-more” of tomorrow.
You want more freedom. More free time to do the things you want to do…more free choice, easier access to more opportunities to play, to enjoy, to grow, to work, to share of yourself…
You want more happiness. Life to be fun-filled…to be carefree…to be with friendly people with friendly faces…to enjoy all that life has to offer.
You want to be healthier. To look and feel your best…enjoy clean air, clear water, and food free of harmful chemicals…exercise, games, sports for your physical health…a simple, natural lifestyle (few worries, less stress) for better mental health.

You want a desirable job with decent pay. There should be a minimum of mis-employment and under-employment, and no unemployment for anyone wanting a chance to learn new job skills.

You want government to be simpler, closer, and more responsive…
A mini-government, where people know one another and there is less need for bureaucratic waste/red-tape. The fewer the people, the fewer the laws:

You want to get away from the pains and problems of everyday living.
Escape inflation, crime, drugs, pollutions, commuting/traffic-jams, poverty-high taxes-welfare, concrete & plastic…

What are the forces, ideas, and people that are shaping the future?
The major force is the Limits to Growth, which is the net result of the following factors acting upon one another: population, pollution, food supply, limited resources, and industrial output. As you try to correct one factor, another worsens, and so forth and so on.”
Some of the saner answers to the limits of growth are offered in The Next 200 Years, a book by Herman Kahn… creative simple living in Mother Earth News… Blueprint for Survival… Hawaii 2000 (anticipatory democracy)… and now we offer the Resort Circle idea.
Another major force shaping the future is the Human Desire to Live Better. People want a higher standard of life… a higher quality of living.
New factors affect the way you work:
Share the work… flextime… an open work week/schedule… automation/mini computers… the automated factory… anti-waste/conservation ethic… don’t commute/communicate… converting goods into services… more than 50% of the jobs we have are unnecessary.
How will we live in the future?
We will live, work, and play in the same neighborhood… enjoy neighborhood mini-government… a house in the countryside and an apartment in town… share joint ownership of some things… more rental/services… less ownership.
Tomorrow you will live the leisure lifestyle that the rich enjoy today.

Is this the best idea in America?
It is simple to prove, although everyone seems to have his/her own opinions/views. “The best idea” is meant in a general sense as it applies to the most people in general, and/or society as a whole. It does the most good for the most people.
And yet, we must prove it beyond question, to you and to society.
We will continue to think of the Resort Circle as the best idea in America,
until we are shown otherwise.
WHY DO WE THINK THE RESORT CIRCLE IS THE BEST IDEA IN AMERICA?
The Resort Circle answers the problems of nuclear energy by reducing the need/demand for increased energy use/production.
The Resort Circle answers the energy problem. It is a highly efficient environment, which will reduce the waste of resources of all kinds: conservation is the cheapest and cleanest source of new energy.
-It requires little or no use of automobiles, as everything is easily within walking distance.
-Individualized consumption/packaging is at a minimum.
-Housing is more efficient/compact in many ways.
-Waste of all kinds will be reduced, and people’s lives will be enriched.
The Resort Circle answers the problems of pollution. Fewer cars, less car use, less individualized packaging, etc.
The Resort Circle answers the problems of world hunger. Encouraging the building of cooperative villages will make it easy for people to grow, store, and distribute their own food.
Sharing the knowledge of small-scale food production from such sources as Mother Earth News and Organic Gardening will increase Third World food production and self-sufficiency.
The energy, population, pollution, production, and hunger problem is and will continue to be worldwide.
The Resort Circle answers the problems of inflation. It reduces the demand on limited resources, while increasing the supply of needed goods and services.
The Resort Circle answers unemployment/recession. It will create millions of new jobs and encourage the sharing of millions of old jobs. It will provide needed temporary refuges during periods of recession.
The Resort Circle answers high taxes. It reduces the need for government spending (city, county, state, federal), and as such, will reduce the pressures of a taxpayer’s revolt. Many of the services provided by the present government will be taken over by the private sector and through cooperative enterprises/organizations
The Resort Circle answers the problems of the cities. Staggered/timesharing schedules will reduce the number of people in the city at any one time, thus reducing the congestion, pollution, traffic jams, concrete and plastic, parking, etc.
It will be a regenerative environment, and more and more citizens will become healthier, happier, better motivated… better citizens.
It will offer the bored/unemployed, something better than crime and drugs…
The Resort Circle answers the problems of overpopulation. It reduces the need for children, makes available other creative outlets, and develops more responsible citizenry. People who are enjoying an affluent life tend to have fewer children.
The Resort Circle answers the problems of nuclear war between major powers. The idea of a Resort Circle will make American democracy more acceptable and available to the rest of the world. Where people everywhere are educated and enjoying a decent standard of living, there is less need for guns and bombs. And, dissatisfied individuals can use createvolution to resolve/reduce their reasons for dissatisfaction.
The Resort Circle, with its comprehensive approach, is the BEST answer to the conflict between the human desire to live better and an evolving age of scarcity.

Why did the immigrants come to America – the land of opportunity?
What were the conditions that created so much discontentment that they would leave their family, their friends, their roots?
The land was poor, and the people lived in semi-starvation.
The people who had the power limited the economic opportunities of the poor and landless so they would have cheap labor.
The laws were unfair and favored the rich.
Freedom of religion was restricted.
Most people were treated as chattels.
